Metal Slug series stands on three pillars of goodness. They are, in no particular order, wicked-cool hand-drawn animation, frenetic action and humor. But for the uninitiated, just know players take control of a soldier in two-dimensional, sidescrolling battlefields chock full of tanks, helicopters and other weapons of war. The environments boast a fair bit of destructibility as well, and it's still rewarding finding that specific barrel or shack that'd bring down the entire screen. And, just as before, you'll need to save POWs scattered about every stage. Your weapons are also upgradeable, just as before. In short, it's Metal Slug.
Ghost Rider's visual quality is impressive. While the stages themselves are too flat and straightforward, the ambiance is there. Foregrounds and backgrounds both have some life to them, and like a Pop Tart, Ghost Rider looks so hot he's cool. Ghost Rider tries; B triggers normal punching, while A swings your chain. R is jump, and L is grab. Pressing down offers an alternate move, while up blocks. It's about as deep as a side-scrolling GBA fighting could be. When Ghost Rider hops on his Hell Cycle, business does start to pick up. This is more Pole Position than F-Zero, with you avoiding obstacles and fighting enemies.
